When our R&D team began work on what is now the Lotus Leaf & Inulin Slimming Solid Beverage, the brief was deceptively simple: build a daily weight-management drink that consumers could take forever — gently, pleasurably, without stimulants — and that a formulator could defend ingredient by ingredient.
Starting From the Food-and-Medicine Homology Shelf
China’s “Yao Shi Tong Yuan” (food and medicine homology) catalog lists botanicals with centuries of dietary use and modern safety data. We restricted our candidate pool to that shelf: lotus leaf, tuckahoe (Poria), ginseng, Chinese yam, polygonatum and prebiotic inulin. The constraint was deliberate — ingredients with food-grade acceptance face smoother regulatory paths in most export markets.
The Four-Year Iteration Log
Year one was spent on ratio screening: how much inulin creates a real satiety signal without digestive discomfort? Years two and three tested synergies — lotus leaf nuciferine alongside fiber, the classical damp-draining pair of lotus leaf and tuckahoe, the tonic backbone of ginseng, yam and polygonatum that keeps the formula balanced in traditional terms. Year four was stability, taste and sachet engineering: a powder that dissolves in seconds, tastes lightly botanical, and survives 24 months on a shelf.
